The Opportunity
Since 2011, Showbest has partnered with Paradies Lagardère, one of North America’s top travel and airport retailers. Together, Showbest and Paradies Lagardère have worked on retail projects in 50+ airports across the world.
The Wood Fired Bigalora Cucina restaurant in Detroit Metropolitan Airport (McNamara Terminal) was 1 of 15 restaurants in the airport terminal that Showbest partnered with Paradies to roll out. The Wood Fired Bigalora Cucina is an authentic Southern Italian restaurant chain, a local favorite from Detroit, known for its delicious Italian cuisine menu. The Paradies Group chose to introduce this Detroit favorite to showcase a taste of what Detroit has to offer for transiting passengers.
Showbest paid significant attention to details throughout the project – selecting only the best quality materials to achieve the brand’s signature look to the finest detail.
As with many of Paradies projects which occur in challenging airport terminal environments, this particular project took approximately three months from start to finish, allowing the restaurant to launch to the public within the quickest possible timeframe.
The result is a stunning restaurant, complete with a unique curved bar display, reclaimed heart pine accent pieces, and hot-rolled steel wainscot detailing.
In January 2016, the 4,100 square foot Bigalora restaurant finally opened its doors to the public, offering travelers yet one more unique retail choice offered by Paradies.
